It seems perplexing that we as a nation do not know why we went to war. The reason given by the Bush administration initially was because Saddam Hussein posessed weapons of mass destruction or WMDs. When none were found, the administration said the reason was to bring democracy to the Iraqi people. They also said that Saddam was linked to Al-Qaeda and the September 11th hijaking.

It started out as a dream, flat taxes and free oil. We were masters of the universe. But slowly the dream uraveled in secret detentions, torture and electronic eavesdropping. We awoke in a conservative dystopia featuring 160,000 soldiers suffering 30,000 casualties and costing 315 billion dollars. |
