It seems perplexing that we as a nation do not know why we went to war. The reason given by the Bush administration initially was because Saddam Hussein posessed weapons of mass destruction or WMDs. When none were found, the administration said the reason was to bring democracy to the Iraqi people. They also said that Saddam was linked to Al-Qaeda and the September 11th hijaking.

Most people have digusted these stories and don't believe them. Here is a cover from the Daily Mirror:

The reasons in no particular order are:

  • Saddam Hussein has weapons of mass destruction.
  • Saddam Hussein is linked to Al-Qaeda and the September 11th hijacking.
  • To bring democracy to the Iraqi people.
  • To secure a source of oil.
  • Because the Israelis thought Iraq had weapons of mass destruction.
  • Because neoconservatives echoing each others thoughts wished to complete the ouster of Saddam left unfinished in the first gulf war.
  • Because Saddam had planned an assination of the first President Bush.

I made the button Bush Loves War, because it is difficult to fathom why we went to war. The only thing for certain is that Bush loves war.
